I tried oil pulling!

Lately there have been a lot of articles floating around the "Internets" about oil pulling. I became very interested in the subject when my dad told me that he knows about this practice and he'd heard a lot of people talking about its benefits in the past.
If you have never heard about oil pulling, the technique sounds pretty much like this: choose an oil you want (they say coconut or sesame are the best, but olive oil or sunflower oil work just the same) and you have to swish around in your mouth a tablespoon of it for about 10-15 minutes when you wake up in the morning, before eating or drinking water or anything. It has been said that it reduces tartar build up, cavities, bad breath, bleeding gums, throat dryness and a lot of other conditions that aren't even related to your mouth because it removes all the toxins accumulated over night :P
When I first tried it I couldn't swish it around for more than 5 minutes, but with each day that passed it was getting easier and easier to reach 10 minutes. I watch stuff on YouTube, check my e-mail or read a blog to make the time go by faster. I've only been doing this for about a week and a half and I'm slowly getting to 15 minutes. I, personally, think that 15 minutes is too much and I would only do it for 10 minutes because if you do it for too long, the bacteria could be absorbed again from the oil and you surely don't want that. No matter what you do, don't swallow or inhale the oil or the toxins will go back into your body. The taste of the oil isn't bad at all, i mean, you can't feel it, it's not gross or anything. I currently alternate between olive and sunflower oil and I would like to try the sesame oil next.
If you read more articles about this you will see that there were some studies made and there really can be some improvements in your oral health, but all in all, even if I feel my teeth cleaner and maybe a bit whiter, I honestly don't know if I could do this everyday for the rest of my life and I don't know if it's worth it. At the moment I still have braces on so I can't do a lot of stuff to whiten and clean my teeth thoroughly so this was ok to try for now, but when my braces will be taken off I will probably use other products and techniques :P
What are your opinions about oil pulling? Did you try it or would you be willing to do it? I would love to hear your comments about this, as it's something new for me and I haven't had the chance to discuss it with many people.
[Sorry for the long rambly post, the next one will be full of pictures, as I'm going on holiday in a couple of days and I'll be driving through 5 countries ^^]

A spring haul - Part 3: Fashion

Hi! I have finally got to the last part of my haul and I can't wait to show you these things. These are all stuff that you can probably still find in stores, if you see something you like  here and want to get it for yourself :P It's not a big haul but I love all the things I got, some are kind of essential items, you'll see, black shoes, black let's dive in!

New Look - £10 (on sale from £20)                                     H&M £13
The first shoes are these stiletto type black suede ones from New Look. They have pretty high heels but I love that, they're comfortable to me, I am used to wearing heels ever since I was 13 (when I went to modelling school), no problems there. I got them in the size 5 (38) which is my usual size and they fit very well. I am saying this because the next shoes, from H&M, are a size 4 (37) and they fit perfectly, so something happened there...I have a lot of shoes from H&M and they are all in the size 5 so I don't know what's up with that. Buuut anyway, I was lucky because they were the only pair in that store so of course I grabbed them and ran for the hills (or tills, same thing :P). I can't wait to wear them..all summer long..with everything.. ^^

Moving on, I got this beautiful (if I may say so) black leather look skirt from Asos and I really hoped it would fit so I don't have to return it, because I was obsessed with it from the moment I've discovered it on the website...I was so happy when it arrived and it was perfect, like it was made for me. They also had it in white, and I loved the look of that one as well, but I don't think that they had my size (which is 8). The next thing was this t-shirt from New Look with kind of an etnic orange and blue pattern on it. It was on sale for £6 and I couldn't leave it there, it fits really nice and I think I would wear it at a festival with some denim shorts. I like it a lot!

The other item from New Look is this black strappy jumpsuit which was £23. I would wear this on a night out with heels, a statement necklace and a clutch in a bold colour (like the orange one in the picture below :P).

As you can see, I got a bit wild with the bags this spring ^^ I've never had colourful bags before, I usually buy black or brown bags to go with everything, so I thought I would give these a try. I am so in love with the purple-ish pink cross body bag from Asos (actually they call it "cerise"), I would wear it everyday. It's kind of small but it fits all the essentials in, I don't need a bigger bag to carry all the useless junk with me everyday :P I love that it has the pocket in the front, where I can keep my phone, for easier access. My second favourite is the coral/orange clutch from Dorothy Perkins. I only paid £6 for this one and it looks awesome. I wish the colour would show better in the picture, it's beautiful. I like how it closes with the magnet. The blue bag has the same system as well (obviously), but you can fit a bit more stuff in it and it has a long strap. This one was £7 and I actually got it for my mom, she has a pair of blue suede court shoes to match, but I will probably end up using the bag more than her :P

Hope you enjoyed my 3-part spring haul! Tell me if you would like to see more haul posts in the future, because I sure love doing them ^^

A spring haul - Part 2: Accesories

This is the second part of my spring haul, and today I'm going to show you the latest jewelry pieces that I got. It's been a long time since I've found something I liked in a shop, and I was determined to go out and find some things, especially that I had to accessorize a wedding outfit for June. I can't say that I am entirely happy now, I still feel I have to go and search for more pieces, but at least I got these ones which I can wear with pretty much anything.
The black and gold bracelet, dangling necklace and set of 9 pairs of earrings I got from Primark and my boyfriend says that they're not my style, but I really like them and I think I can make them work. Those were all the nice pieces I could find in Primark. I feel I must say that I don't like necklaces with sparkly stones and weird colours and chunky chains so that's why I'm having a hard time finding things I like in stores these days...
I got the red earrings and ring just because I needed something red to match to an outfit and other jewelry I have, but I'm loving the earrings more everyday :P
My favourite necklace is the black, red and gold one from New Look. It was love at first sight and I think it works equally for casual outfits and more dressed up looks. I can't remember how much this was, but I think it was something like 6£.
The last thing I bought was the gold bar necklace from Peacocks. I didn't expect to find something to like in Peacocks but my mom showed this to me and I liked it. I wanted something like this for some time now, but I couldn't find one anywhere. It's simple, you can wear this with pretty much anything so what's not to like!? :P (oh, man, how many times did I just say "like"? sorry 'bout that ^^)
I hope you've found some things you like here and I've inspired your next purchases :P See you on the last part of my spring haul trilogy, where you're going to see some fashion bits :)

A spring haul - Part 1: Beauty

As you may see from the title this is the first part of a series of 3 posts, showing you my latest buys for this spring. Today I'm going to talk about all the beauty bits, the next post is about accessories and the last one will cover fashion (&shoes, bags).
I recently went to H&M in Norwich to look for a dress because I have a wedding to go to next month in Romania and I'd seen some nice stuff on their website. Unfortunately I couldn't find any clothes I liked (I only got some shoes you'll see in another post :P) and I checked the beauty section to see if there's anything interesting. I already have an eyeshadow palette from H&M which I really like so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a go because I loved the colours. I am impressed with the pigmentation and they feel very nice, almost buttery, I'm very happy with my first purchase :)
The Essie nail polishes you can see in the picture are "Off the shoulder" and "Capri". I got them from a blog sale and I love them. I didn't have this kind of colours in my collection so I had to get them (!), and they were a total bargain. I love the thick brush, they're so easy to apply and they don't chip for a good few days. Awesome! ^^
The Benefit POREfessional primer sample came as a freebie with ELLE magazine and I just had to mention it because it's a real cult product, a favourite in the beauty bloggers' world. I was curious about it but I don't think I would've payed the full price for it not knowing if I'm going to get along with it. I will tell you my opinion on it later on.
After a visit to Superdrug I came out with a few stuff from MUA. I really wanted to try their Lip Lacquers and I chose the shade Atomic because I was in need of an orange lip product ^^ I just love it! After you apply the lacquer, it becomes dry and matte and it stays on your lips until you decide to remove it :P I drank water and it didn't's very nice. I might go back for the other shades, too! To take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer I picked up another MUA blusher in the shade Bubble Gum (I have two other shades and I like them). They are pretty pigmented and blend well on the skin. The third item was another nail polish, a pretty pastel pink - Natural Days, suitable for spring/summer.
Finally I saw this 2 for 1 offer in Claire's for any false eyelashes so I picked up 2 Eylure sets, one with individual lashes and one with some pretty natural looking strip lashes. I've never tried Eylure lashes before so I can't tell you yet if I like them ^^
So these are all my latest beauty buys, I'm always excited to try new stuff so I'll have a few fun days playing around with these things :P Have you ever used any of these products before? What do you think about them?

nspa replenishing moisture mask review

I spotted this Nspa Replenishing Moisture Mask in Asda when it was on offer for only 1£ so I couldn't just leave it there! I've seen some good reviews of Nspa products before so I was curious about them. I've had it for a few weeks now and I get on really well with it. It's the 3rd step in my evening routine once or twice a week (after cleansing and exfoliating the skin). It's a thick pink cream which you have to apply evenly on your face and neck and I think it smells very nice...but I can't really describe smells, I'm sorry :)) After relaxing for 15-20 min I use cotton pads soaked in water to remove the excess and then I apply my moisturizer. I have found that I don't have dry patches on my face like I used to have before and it is just great, it doesn't break me out, it doesn't upset my skin in any way. For only 1 pound this is a great mask and it's the proof that you don't have to spend hundreds of pounds on your skincare products..there actually are cheap ones that do the job! I am impressed and I'm probably going to check out the other Nspa stuff when I'm in Asda next time to see if they are just as nice and easy to work with. What do you recommend? :)

10 Favourite Items In My Wardrobe - Monochrome Spring Edit

Hello everyone! You can see from the title of this post what's it gonna be about so I won't repeat myself :P These are the 10 items I tend to reach to the most during spring. I didn't even realise that I own so many black and white clothes before I started writing this post ^^ Luckily they're "in" at the moment. But these are really my most worn items and they can be paired with other colourful and patterned pieces to create the perfect spring outfit. (I'm sorry some of the clothes are so creased...)

1. This is a blouse I got from H&M in Paris ages ago but I still love it and I think it's perfect for this spring, with the floral pattern and the shape of's very comfortable..and I also like the material, silky smooth ^^
2. This is a casual, off-white top, (also from H&M) that I usually wear with jeans. It has 3/4 sleeves and it's kind of short in the front but not too short (I don't think I look good in crop tops :P), the soft material is lovely and perfect for the weather we're having.

3. This is another blouse I love, I bought it a few months ago from New Look and I got a lot of wear out of it. I love the collar and the little sleeves, it's very flattering :)
4. Another thing I got from New Look, a black dress with white bows.. as if I didn't have enough black dresses yet ^^ I wore it on my last birthday and it was very comfortable, I felt really good in it.

5. A basic piece from H&M, my black knee-length skirt which I wear every time I'm not sure what to wear :)) I wear it with everything,'s so versatile. Everyone should have a black pencil skirt..
6. This is also from H&M and I throw it over everything when I'm a bit cold. I love its shape and the fact that it doesn't have any buttons or anything. The only thing I don't like is that the material creases like crazy. I iron it and I can't wear it for 5 minutes before it's ruined again. Oh, well...

7. This jacket is one of my latest acquisitions from Primark. Perfect for spring, I wear it with a white top, black pants and high heels like in the post here or a pink top, jeans and flat sandals to dress down...there are a lot of possibilities :)
8. These trousers are from Zara and I stalked them for some time until I caved when I saw them in Paris and brought them home. I cheated a bit because they're not exactly monochrome but eh, whatcha gonna do? :P I love the faux leather bit at the waist. There's one thing I don't understand...when I wear them everybody says that they're tights. Why? They don't look like tights to me, they're very much trousers, made from trouser material, with pockets and zips and everything :))

9. I had to choose some denim items, because I wear denim all the time, I couldn't leave them out. These are my Ralph Lauren jeans which I love so much, they're like 3/4 in length and they are such a good fit...easily my favourite pair of jeans ever.
10. Sort of a new addition to my wardrobe, this Stradivarius shirt I got in Paris.. I've always wanted a denim shirt and I found the perfect one. I might do a post to show you how I style it.
I like to be warm so you might notice that I don't wear very revealing clothes yet...the perfect temperature for me would be about 25°C (or above) so until that weather comes I will leave the short skirts, shorts, camis and stuff like that in storage. I haven't yet experienced a summer in the UK, but I hope it's not too cold...but I guess I won't be missing the 40°C+ in Romania either :P

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you didn't...well I promise the summer edit will be much more colourful than this one! :P

How I Curl My Hair

I love to curl my hair from time to time, to get out of the rut. Usually I do it when there's a special occasion because I wear my hair straight every day so that's the way most people see me and I like to appear with something new or different. I used to curl it using hot curlers - kind of like the ones in the picture here (which reminds me, I should do a review on those ones, too, they are pretty good), but this Christmas I got the Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Hair Tong from Boots and it made my life so much easier. I literally curled my hair in 5 minutes before leaving out the door for the New Year's Eve party. It has an on/off button and +/- buttons to set the temperature (I use it at 190 degrees almost every time, it's my personal preference, but it goes up to 210) and I like the fact that it heats very very fast. It also came with the pouch you see in the picture below and I can easily transport it when I travel.

I currently wash my hair with the Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo (because I've dyed it recently) and after that I like to dry it with this rotating brush from Rowenta pictured above. Before I use heat on my hair I like to prep it with the TRESemmé Heat Defence styling spray which does a good job with that. After I curl all of my hair I spray a little bit of the VO5 give me texture throught it to give it that lived-in look. I finish everything off with the Schwarzkopf got2b 2 sexy big volume push up volumizing hairspray (oh yeah, I wanted to write all that names down, woohoo! :)) ). This is an ok hairspray, it doesn't leave my hair crispy or wet looking, but I can't say it's too volumizing..

Here are the before and after pictures, I'm sorry the lighting in my house isn't very good :P these are the only shots I got to take before the sun hid behind the clouds - living in UK, what can you do... As you can see, my hair is kinda messy curled because I only took about 10 minutes to do it but I like it this way. Usually my curls last a day or two - max - because I have such long, fine hair.

I hope you enjoyed today's post, I don't think I talked about my hair on the blog before, I know I enjoyed doing it ^^
