Planning a trip

   Hi! I'm leaving to Romania tomorrow for a week and I've just finished packing my luggage, so what better time to write a post about planning a trip than now!? :D
    When I am about to go on a trip I am obsessed with lists. Well, I like to make lists for practically anything, but these are very useful lists - you don't want to forget important stuff at home, do you?! So, first things first, you have to think about your destination, how many days are you going to be away and how will the weather be like. I've heard it's going to snow in Bucharest in the next few days so I'll be sure to pack some gloves, a hat and a scarf.
   In my suitcase (checked-in baggage) I always put the larger/heavier items at the bottom, and the fragile things (perfume bottles, etc) in the middle, between the clothes so they don't get broken or anything - I've seen how the men at the airport handle the suitcases, it's not pretty! :P I always think about whole outfits I want to wear and don't take random clothes from the wardrobe to avoid over-packing. I almost always end up visiting some shops and buying some new clothes on my trips anyway. Regarding folding or rolling the clothes, I don't have a preferred method, I alternate between the two. If you roll your clothes very tight they don't even crease and they take up very little space so this should be the winner but I don't find the patience to do so :P My boyfriend taught me another thing, to put the socks in the shoes so they keep their shape and you don't waste any space :) and of course put the shoes in plastic bags or something to avoid getting germs on your clothes, but I hope I didn't need to tell you that!
   I always put my valuables in my hand luggage - phone, camera, chargers, money, documents, jewelry, watches - everything! I don't think it's safe to leave any of that in the checked baggage because it might get lost. Besides those things you of course have to put your liquids in the 1L zip-lock bag - I get my shower gel, scrub, body lotion, face creams, make-up remover, etc in travel-size bottles. I never take toothpaste or mouthwash with me just because I can get those from any shop when I get to the destination.

    Some final tips:

  • if your clothes get wrinkles and you don't have an ironing machine leave them on a hanger in the bathroom when you shower, the steam will make them wearable again
  • accessorize! you can always get some scarfs, belts or statement jewelry (they take up so little space) that can change an outfit from day to night.
  • wear big, heavy items on you in the plane (you can guess why)
  • leave some space for gifts/souvenirs, etc. It would be a shame to have to leave something behind.. :P
  • think about anything you might be doing on vacation and pack accordingly, you know, the essential bathing suit, flip flops and sunglasses if you might go to the beach (yeah, some people go the the beach in the winter and I wish I was one of them :)) )
  • last but not least, wear sunscreen!
Hope you enjoyed my post, a lot of rambling and no pictures, sorry... but I promise it will be followed by a post full of pictures! See you next week! <3

What's in my bag (!?)

I really like to read this kind of posts so I thought I'd do one myself. So here it is :P I like to clean up my bag once in a while so I don't carry around old candy wrappers or used tissues & stuff like that ^^ Regarding the receipts, I used to have kind of an obsession with keeping all of them and I tried to give it up so yeah, I recycle paper, that's why I don't have too much now :P I sometimes change my bag to match my outfits so sometimes there are less things in my bag, and sometimes there are more :P I could have a book or a magazine in there when I'm on the train / subway / plane, a pair of flats when I go out wearing heels and have no idea when I'm coming back home, a scarf, etc :P

 My bag is s.Oliver and I can't even remember how many years ago I bought it. From top left to bottom right there are:
- my pink Panasonic RP-DJS400 headphones which I bought from Paris a couple of years ago
- my NaviGo pass for the metro in Paris, I'll be needing that soon :P
- my old Volcom wallet with cards, driving licence, id, pictures of my boyfriend and best friend, dentist appointment, receipts, money, etc. I have bought a nice new wallet from Primark like a year ago but I can't say goodbye to this one yet..
- Haribo Tangfastics. I love them. Can't live without them.
- orthodontic wax for the braces;
- Romanian money - I'm going to use them next week :P
- a doughnut thingy for my hair. I think I got it from H&M, can't really remember.
- natural alum stone deodorant bought from Paris (for when I don't sleep at home)
- Sanctuary Spa hand cream - essential for winter;
- L'Occitane lipstick from the Fleur Cherie collection, i love it!
- my phone with the flamingo case <3
- the headphones that came with my phone - never used them so far :))
- a little notepad that my sister bought for me from New York where I write all my ideas
- the reading glasses which I got from Paris like 2-3 years ago
- gum. receipts. tissues.
- a little mirror which I think it was also a gift from my sister.
- Clarins ultra-matte rebalancing lotion;
- sunglasses (black ones - Primark, animal print ones - H&M)
- (New Look?) necklace, bobby pin, hairbands, Maybelline Forever Strong nail polish;
- snowman hair clip something, a ring, home keys, pen, gold headband from Primark.

I'm so sorry for the quality of the picture. I wanted to put another picture, but i don't know why (I'm new to blogger, you know) it keeps rotating, and they show it upside down so I can't post the picture I want, it's so frustrating, I can't find the answer.. do you have any suggestions?!

NOTD - Barry M Croc Effects!

Hi! Look what I have here! It's Barry M Croc Nail Effects in Black! You can find this at Superdrug for £4, I bought it when there was a 3 for 2 offer on Barry M nail polishes. I don't normally like nail polishes that have a crackle effect, but this is different, I just love how this looks like! I like to put it over a light colour like yellow, pink, gold, nude, etc so you can see the difference, of course. You have to apply it while your base coat is still a bit wet because if you don't it doesn't crack like it should. In about 3 minutes you can already see the results and I think it's wonderful. Do you like this croc effect? :)

E.L.F 100pc eyeshadow pallete review & swatches

As I promised, I came back with some swatches for you! This is the super affordable 100pc eyeshadow palette from E.L.F! It is so nice! I like the case a lot, seems resistant and there is even a good mirror on the inside. Most of the colours are usable, not too weird, and you can experiment a lot with this. There are matte and shimmery shadows, I didn't find them chalky as I saw in other reviews of this palette and I use them with the E.L.F eyelid primer underneath which really makes the colours vibrant. If you are just starting to experiment with make-up this is a good option for you.

Left: with flash. Right: without flash - daylight.
Left: close-up. Right: random swatches without & with primer.

2nd row top and bottom
1st, 3rd and 4th row
5th row, top and bottom

6th and 7th row
8th and 9th row
last row bottom and top

So yeah guys, these are a few swatches, I wanted to show a few different shades (and not the ones that are too similar to each other). You can purchase this on the E.L.F website for £15 so I think it's worth it. Have you used this palette? Do you like it?

Boots & Superdrug haul

    Of course I couldn't let winter sales to go by without stopping at Boots so I grabbed some goodies and today I'm going to show you what I got :)
    First of all I wanted to try out the Biore Deep Cleansing pore strips and I bought the Combo with 7 nose strips & 7 face strips. I've heard about them on Zoella's Youtube channel but I had no idea how amazing they are! They changed my life! It's like I had a revelation :)) They get out every single blackhead you have. My mother used them first and she couldn't believe it..after so many years of cosmetic treatments that didn't work..she was amazed by what these strips can do! You just stick a strip onto your wet nose or chin or wherever you want, let it dry for 10-15 minutes then peel it off and be amazed by the results! ^^ I bought them when they were like 50% discounted, I'm sorry I didn't get more boxes.

    Next on my shopping list were the Boots Extract Cocoa Butter Body Lotion, Body Wash and Sugar Scrub which came in a pretty wash bag - I think they still have them on the website - for 7 pounds. I just love how they smell (that's why I bought them).

    The next thing is a Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade 1 - Fair. Yeah, I know everybody raves about it, and they are right. I love it, too :P Great coverage and everything..

    Another curiosity that I had was the Sanctuary Spa Body Moisture Spray because I have very dry skin in the winter and I've seen some reviews about this saying it's nice and hydrating and I like the spray form :P I have to use it more to make an opinion about it..

    I got some..hygiene stuff, too - a Dove Go Fresh Anti-Perspirant Deodorant with pomegranate & lemon verbena scent - I love the smell and it's very good, it lasts a lot, probably not 48h like it says on it but I wouldn't stay that much without washing so it doesn't matter :)) . The second thing is a Listerine Stay White Mouthwash. It says that it keeps teeth whiter (i almost wrote "white teether" :)) ) but I can't tell if there's a difference from using it. The taste is minty and ok, not too strong, like other flavours.
    This is about everything I got this time..I think it would be much easier if I made videos when I do this kind of posts and the words would flow more naturally but I can't convince myself to talk in front of the whole Internet yet ^^ What do you think? Should I make videos? :)
